Industry-First: We made a short film about the future of taxis using XR technology at SHIBA studio

MK TAXI’s promotional video by XR won the Special Award in the 4K category at the AIS Lumiere Japan Awards 2023.

We’re showcasing the future of taxis, from palanquins in the Edo period to today’s cars, in an “XR Short Movie” with the theme “The journey into the future that starts with creation.” We imagine taxis transporting people to space in this futuristic vision.

This short film utilized XR (Virtual Production) filming, seamlessly integrating actors into lifelike CGI backgrounds in real-time, eliminating the need for post-processing. Shot entirely in-studio, weather conditions were irrelevant, and set changes were as easy as loading pre-made data. Camera and lighting adjustments were immediately reflected, enhancing efficiency and creativity. This innovative approach streamlines filmmaking and distinguishes the film as a unique production.
